Square Enix Reveals SaGa Emerald Beyond Add-on for Vampire Survivors

Happy Anniversary to SaGa Emerald Beyond! The fabulously free-form RPG released April 25 last year, so it’s nearly a whole year old. They grow up so fast. To celebrate, we have a very exciting collaboration to announce—a new SaGa Emerald Beyond-themed update for the utterly awesome Vampire Survivors! Titled “Emerald Diorama,” it adds loads of new content to the game, including a new stage, new weapons, new characters and more.

What is Vampire Survivors?
We’re sure this game needs no introduction, but just in case some of you are yet to experience this intensely fun gothic horror survival game, allow us to introduce it. Developed by poncle, Vampire Survivors pits you against hordes of undead in fast-paced action, but you don’t need to shoot – your character attacks automatically. This means you can focus on positioning, levelling up, finding new weapons and evolving them into new forms, discovering secrets and more. It’s fast-paced, easy to play, full of depth and very, very absorbing. Fun fact: I play it on the train each day I travel to Square Enix HQ and have missed my stop at least 3 times as a result. Thanks to this new SaGa Emerald Beyond crossover, I expect it to happen again fairly regularly. I apologize to my employers in advance.

The heroes of SaGa Emerald Beyond have taken the emerald waves to Vampire Survivors! Take a look:
What is SaGa Emerald Beyond?
SaGa Emerald Beyond is a fully standalone RPG that brings together the very best elements of the beloved SaGa franchise. You choose between five sets of protagonists and embark on a journey across 17 unique worlds, each with their own aesthetics, culture, monsters and stories. The game features the signature SaGa free-form scenario system, where the story branches in many different ways depending on your choices and actions. Depending on who you play, which path you choose, when you go there and the decisions you make, the story can play out very differently. This makes it feel like more than just an adventure – it’s your adventure. Add in a satisfyingly strategic combat system, where exploiting weaknesses and manipulating turn order can be the difference between victory and defeat, and you have one of the most unique, fun and memorable RPGs out there.

What’s new in Emerald Diorama for Vampire Survivors?
The new update adds loads of new content for the gothic horror shooter, including the following:

12+ playable characters from SaGa Emerald Beyond
You’ll get to take on the undead hordes with more than 12 new characters, each with their own unique abilities and weapons. These include Ameya, a young witch disguised as a schoolgirl, Diva No. 5, a songstress mech on a mission to reclaim her singing voice and many more! Some characters can also team up and wreak havoc together, such as rookie cops Bonnie and Formina, and Tsunanori Mido and his summonable kugutsu puppets!

New stage
The new update also adds a new stage, which weaves together several of the worlds from SaGa Emerald Beyond.

16+ weapons
You’ll have access to more than 16 new weapons, inspired by SaGa Emerald Beyond. Excitingly, these have the SaGa series signature “Glimmering” built in—they can learn a new technique in the heart of battle!

9 music tracks
If you’ve ever played a SaGa game (or even the SaGa DLC for THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE) you’ll know how great the series is when it comes to music. It’ll be welcome news then that you can slay the undead to nine new music tracks, including never-before-heard remixes from SaGa Emerald Beyond!

So once more, happy anniversary to SaGa Emerald Beyond! Be sure to check out the collaboration on Vampire Survivors right now—and have fun! If you’re after more SaGa action, don’t forget to also check out SaGa Emerald Beyond.
And if it’s yet more SaGa fun, the amazing SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered (pictured above) just launched for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Steam, iOS and Android! It’s a beautiful remaster of one of the best games in the series, with beautiful watercolor graphics, satisfying turn-based combat and character progression and a top-tier soundtrack. The new remastered edition enhances the game further, with updated visuals and UI, new gameplay features, additional playable characters, new events and more.
Also, be sure to give Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven (pictured above) a try. It’s an epic adventure that spans literal generations – and one of the best RPGs of last year!

Emerald Diorama—the latest addition to Vampire Survivors—is out now on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5|4, Nintendo Switch, Epic Games Store, Android and iOS in a free update to the game!
