ASRock B550 Steel Legend Motherboard Reviewed ta Funky Kit

Our main sister site Funky Kit has posted a review on the ASRock B550 Steel Legend Motherboard. Check out the full review at Funky Kit.

The B550 Steel Legend is another great addition to ASRock’s line-up of B550 motherboards. It’s well designed and offers very good performance, with a wealth of features that’s unique to ASRock.

What I really like about ASRock’s Steel Legend series of motherboards, is the camo silver/black/white design and the large silver heatsinks, which makes it really stand out from the rest. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to build a white-themed PC build.

During our benchmarks, we got some really good scores including a Cinebench score of 2,046, and a PCMark 10 score of 7,230. For Port Royal, we got a score of 6,689 and a DLSS score of 44.97 fps. For 3DMark Timespy and Firestrike, we got scores of 10,999 and 23,264 respectively. All-in-all, I’m very happy with the results.

The B550 Steel Legend comes with a rich feature set which includes, PCIE 4.0 support, Nahimic Audio, Dragon 2.5GB LAN, USB 3.2 both Gen2 and Gen1 , 6 x SATA ports, CrossfireX support, 1 x PCIE 4.0 x16 steel slos, 2 x PCIE 3.0 x1 slots, 1 x Hyper M.2 slot, 2 x Ultra M.2 slots for SSDs (covered my a full coverage heatsink), as well as onboard diagnostic LEDs, however, there’s no buttons for clear CMOS, power on/off or reset, which is a shame really.

A couple of things to take note. During our M.2 Gen4 SSD full load tests, we encountered something odd. The SSD temperature soared above 55 degrees and peaked at 61 degrees, which ultimately caused the system to crash. We later found out the cause. I was running the Gen4 SSD bare, without any heatsink. This goes to show … if you’re going to use a Gen4 SSD … make sure you use the included heat shield from the motherboard.

All-in-all, I’m happy to say that the ASRock B550 Steel Legend motherboard, delivered both in performance and price. You can buy the ASRock B550 Steel Legend motherboard for around USD $179.99 from Amazon (https://amzn.to/33lOWpa), which I think is a great bargain considering what you’re actually getting.

Final words

Overall, the ASRock B550 Steel Legend motherboard is a very good all-rounder, that offers decent performance with a packed feature list, and you get all that at a price that extremely attractive. It’s unique cam/white/black/gray design is perfect for anyone who wants to build a white-themed PC build.
