There are rumors that the next refresh of AMD’s Radeon cards (RX 6950XT, 6850XT, 6750XT) are expected to use faster 18Gbps Memory … nice!
Taken from Videocardz … Wjm47196 is a leaker who appeared on our site many times before with a relatively good track record. In his posts on Chiphell, he typically focuses on AMD’s upcoming hardware, with the latest entry being no exception.
According to him, AMD Radeon RX 6000 series refresh is real and confirmed. The company is set to launch 6X50XT models based on Navi 21 and Navi 22 GPUs, which might ‘replace’ existing models. It is reported that new cards might already launch in the second quarter, but no specific date is mentioned.
…
At the same time, one would wonder if AMD is ready to switch its production to 6nm (TSMC N6) process technology, compatible with the 7nm process AMD is already using for Navi 21/22/23 GPUs (TSMC N7). However, none of the leakers has thus far mentioned this being a possibility.
The upcoming 18 Gbps refresh might be a response to NVIDIA’s recent upgrades to its RTX 30 series, such as RTX 3080 12GB or the upcoming RTX 3090 Ti.
