AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Benchmarked with Geekbench

15% faster than RTX 4080 in Vulkan

Taken from Videocardz … Someone has been testing AMD’s first Radeon 7000 GPU with Geekbench software. The card tested is the RX 7900 XTX, the flagship RDNA3 card featuring full Navi 31 GPU.

AMD RX 7900 XTX was paired with 8-core Ryzen 7 7700X processors on ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme motherboard. Such systems are often used by reviewers, which is how these results ended up in the public database.

The card was put through Geekbench Compute tests with OpenCL and Vulkan APIs. The software also supports Metal and CUDA APIs, but those APIs are not supported by AMD RX 7900 hardware on Windows.

Unfortunately, official Geekbench Compute charts were not updated with new SKUs. For this reason, graphics cards such as RTX 4090, RTX 4080 or even RX 6950XT are not listed there. What this means is that we have to rely on manual data collection with simple methodology: same API, same operating system and excluding the outliers.

The RX 7900 XTX is visibly faster than RTX 4080 in Vulkan API (~15%), but it performs worse in OpenCL (~14%). However, one should note that Geekbench software is not providing enough data to draw any meaningful conclusions (lack GPU clocks or driver info). This is also not a gaming benchmark.
