Eluktronics Prometheus XVII Laptop Powered by AMD Ryzen 5000H and Mobile RTX 3080

Although the brand is fairly unknown … the Eluktronics Prometheus XVII is  probably one of the nicer gaming laptops I’ve seen in 2021.

Taken from Notebookcheck … The new Prometheus XVII gaming laptop series comes with advanced features like the enhanced thermal design that supports overclocked Ryzen 7 5800H processors coupled with 150 W RTX 3080 mobile GPUs. All inside a 0.98-inch thick chassis. It also includes the Control Center 3.0 suite that lets users easily tweak CPU PL settings, custom power and fan profiles, GPU wattage etc

With the new Prometheus XVII gaming laptops, Eluktronics proves that desktop replacements can still be compact and portable enough, combining powerful specs, top cooling solutions and chassis that are just under 1-inch (2.48 cm) thick. While the Prometheus XVII lineup does not integrate any desktop-grade components, the high-end configurations offered by Eluktronics can easily replace a desktop rig thanks to extensive tuning options and one of the best thermal designs on the market.

Eluktronics points out that the new Prometheus XVII lineup is its first to prominently feature AMD’s mobile processors. To this end, two of the three configurations (the lower-end and the high-end) feature AMD’s APU’s, whereas the mid-range configuration comes with an Intel CPU. Users have a choice between 512 GB NVMe SSD storage + 16 GB of DDR-3200 RAM or 1 TB NVMe SSD storage + 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM. Eluktronics lets users add a secondary NVMe SSD with up to 8 TB capacity, as well. Here are the detailed specs for each processor + dGPU configuration:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 4800H 8 Cores – 16 Threads (2.9-4.2GHz Max Boost Clock) + 6GB GDDR6 VRAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (Max-P TDP: 90~115 Watts, OC Options: Up to 130 Watts with Dynamic Boost)
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800H 8 Cores – 16 Threads (3.2-4.4GHz Max Boost Clock) + 16GB GDDR6 VRAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (Max-P TDP: 115 Watts, OC Options: TGP Adjustable up to 135 Watts + 15 Watts via Dynamic Boost for a maximum of 150 Watts)

The QHD standard is starting to see increased adoption from laptop OEMs, and Eluktronics is among the first to offer 17.3-inch 1440p IPS displays with 165 Hz refresh rates for the Prometheus XVII systems. These panels are also capable of delivering 96% sRGB color gamut and are factory calibrated with delta E<2.

Other features offered with all three configurations include:

  • RGB backlit keyboard with customizable RGB light bar
  • Large glass touchpad
  • Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5.1 + 2.5 Gbps NIC
  • HD webcam with IR sensor and dual array mics
  • Port selection: USB Type-C Port with DP Connectivity, USB-A 3.1 (Gen 2), 2x USB-A 3.1 (Gen 1), HDMI 2.1 video output,  MicroSD card reader, LAN jack, headphone & mic jacks
  • Control Center 3.0 that lets users easily tweak CPU PL settings, custom power and fan profiles, GPU wattage etc.
  • Nvidia Optimus
  • Special power mode button that cycles through Office Mode, Gaming Mode & Beast Mode
  • 62 Wh battery
  • 5.85 lbs (2.65 Kg) weight

Prices for the Ryzen 7 4800H configuration start at $1,599.99, while the Intel configuration is available for at least $1,999.99, and the high-end Ryzen 7 5800H variants start at $2,499.99.
