At the time of this review the drive is going for 99 dollars. That’s 30 dollars cheaper than it has been listed for since release. Hopefully this is permanent. At 99 dollars this drive is hard to pass up. The size of the drive is shorter than a credit card while being a little wider. The thickness isn’t much more than a typical USB drive. The SL100 Pro is very compact and housed in a quality aluminum. No doubt this could handle a few drops and rough handling. Now as far as performance goes. The highest temp I encountered while testing was 61 degrees Celsius. This is well within range of the 70 degree operating temperature.

The transfer speeds advertised are consistent with the testing. I used the fastest USB (USB 3.1) to test the drive. Keep in mind if you use  USB 3.0 or less you will be limited to transfer speeds those connections are capable of. I will be keeping this drive around for a while for sure. The compact size and amazing speeds make this external drive easy to travel with and with no worries of data loss because it was bouncing around my bag. If I had one complaint it would be the length of the cables. I used the port directly on the back of my motherboard so I could test with 3.1. So I would have liked to of seen longer cables for that reason. All the tests showed very consistent results!

I never really tried out the DataVault Lite software. That is a nice of them to throw in with the purchase of the SL100 Pro. If you don’t already have a suite that protects your files, then you get a little bonus with this drive.

The Lexar SL100 Pro can be found at Amazon as well as various other e-tailers for the price around $230 USD. Amazon – https://amzn.to/39uyjXK

Final Thoughts

The Lexar SL100 Pro is a super compact portable SSD that easily fits in your pocket. Don’t dismiss its small size though, as it comes with some blazing transfer speeds. Posting 950 MB/s read and 900 MB/s speeds all day long. This drive performed consistently throughout all the testing!
