ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi White 24GB OC Graphics Card Review

Review by Funky Kit.

Our sister site Funky Kit published a review of the ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi White 24GB OC Graphics Card … you can check out the full review here.

Compared to the ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming 24GB OC, which we reviewed not so long ago, the Taichi White OC Edition offers a slight improvement in performance. But when compared against the GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 4070 Ti … this card beats them hands down. We still haven’t tested the GeForce RTX 4090 yet, so I can’t comment on that comparison.

What makes ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi White so attractive for me, is that fact that it features a dual BIOS system, and this can be accessed via a flick of a switch to select between Performance mode and Quiet mode. This switch is found on the top edge of the graphics card.

During our tests, we used a pre-built system provided by ASRock, which is comprised of an AMD Rzyen 9 7950X3D and ASRock X670E Steel Legend motherboard, along with 32GB of DRR5-6000 ram. With Performance mode BIOS, I got extremely good scores in all of our benchmarks, including an impressive score of 162,518 for Geekbench. For Unigine’s Valley benchmark, we got a score of of 10,277, and a Final Fantasy benchmark score of 19,974.

For Superposition 1080p extreme and optimized 4K, we got impressive scores of 15,305 and 19,284 respectively. For 3DMark Timespy and Firestrike, it produced an excellent score of 25,006 and 46,089 respectively. And finally, for Speedway and Port Royal, it produce an amazing score of 5,743 and 14,001 respectively. And lastly, we got a DirectX Raytracing score of 50.24 fps and a Passmark 10 GPU score of 19,496.

The amazing scores above, is all thanks to the factory-overclocked GPU with a Boost Clock speed of up to 2,680 MHz (the default is 2500 Mhz), while the Game Clock speed running at 2,510 MHz (default is 2300 Mhz).

The all-white shroud and backplate makes this card perfect for anyone who wants to build and all-white themed PC steel. The LED on the center ring fan, as well as the ASRock logo on the top of the card, lights up when you powered the card up and this makes the card look SO good! You can turn the LED on or off, using the switch located on the top edge of the card.

As with all Radeon graphics card, you don’t need to use the new PCIE 5.0 (16-pin 12VHPWR) power connector to power this card. You can use your existing power supply as long as you have 3 x 8-pin PCIE power cables. Just make sure you have a minimum power supply of 850W or higher, I recommend at least 1000W for this card.

Monitor output includes 3 x DisplayPorts v2.1 and 1 x HDMI 2.1 port (VRR). Remember, for those using high-end gaming monitors that support refresh rates above 144Hz, make sure you use some high quality DisplayPorts cables (minimum v1.4) and ensure you select FreeSync on the Adrenalin Software. If don’t, you won’t be getting all the features or benefits of the graphics card or monitor.

For cooling, the card uses the impressive Taichi 3X Cooling System featuring a massive heatsink with 8 heatpipes, reinforced frame, metal backplate, and 3 Striped Ring fans. It’s more than enough to cool the graphics card with an overclocked GPU. Full load temperatures of GPU and hot spot reached a high of 52 degrees and 90 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Currently, we don’t have a MSRP for the ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi White OC, but expect to pay around USD $1200+

You can buy the ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi (orginal black version) graphics card for around USD $975 from Amazon – https://tinyurl.com/mr29h5y7

Final Thoughts

I’ve always wondered what’s so special about ASRock’s Taichi edition of their graphics card. Now I know why … not only do they look good with its center ring LED fan, but they also offer excellent performance thanks to its overclocked GPU. The ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi White OC easily beats the GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 4070 Ti in most benchmarks, and I’m more than happy to say, it’s perfect for any hardcore gaming enthusiasts who want an all-white graphics card to match their all-white PC build.
