The Last of Us Part II Breaks Records

It’s Sony’s fastest-selling PlayStation 4 game in the UK

Taken from DigitalSpyThe Last of Us 2has officially become Sony’s fastest-selling PlayStation 4 game in the UK.

According to Games Industry, the post-apocalyptic video game sequel shot to the top of the UK boxed charts and, as a result, has broken a significant record – beating out the opening week numbers from 2016 release Uncharted 4 by just over 1% to become the PS4’s fastest-selling game in the UK.

It’s important to note, though, that download sales are not factored into this particular data. If they were, it’s likely The Last of Us 2‘s launch figures could’ve been even more impressive.

The original horror action game was released on the PS3 in 2013, and has now inspired an upcoming HBO adaptation directed by Chernobyl‘s Johan Renck (he’s attached to the pilot).

And it seems that the enduring popularity of the first game has seen fans scrambling for their wallets upon release of the sequel too, as launch sales for The Last of Us 2 have eclipsed its predecessor’s by 76%, which is pretty staggering.
