Designed for accelerated computing and could possibly be able to compete with Nvidia’s Ampere, let’s see how this will turn out.
Taken from Videocardz … The first CDNA-based Radeon Instinct will arrive in the second half of 2020, AMD’s Mark Papermaster today confirmed.
The MI100 is likely to succeed MI60 accelerator, which is equipped with a Vega 20 graphics processor. The MI100 is rumored to feature Arcturus GPU with an undisclosed number of Stream Processors. The processor is likely to feature 7nm CDNA 1x architecture.
At the same time as NVIDIA introduced its streamlined Ampere architecture, which will be used for both gaming and data-center products, AMD announced that future Radeon products will be built either using rDNA architecture for gaming or CDNA for data-centers.
Mark Papermaster confirmed the MI100 discrete GPU accelerator coming in the second half of 2020 during Dell’s EMC High-Performance Computing Online event.
